Forest River Repair

Forest River Repair Across Every Product Line

Short answer

Forest River is dozens of divisions, not one build standard. We identify which plant built yours before quoting, because construction varies significantly line to line.

OCRV Center repairs Forest River products for San Clemente owners across the Cherokee, Salem, Rockwood, Cedar Creek, Sunseeker and toy hauler lines. Because each division builds differently, we identify the plant and the sidewall method first, then scope collision, roof, slide, water damage or frame work.

Forest River is not a single builder with a single standard. It is a large group of divisions that operate semi-independently, and construction genuinely differs between a Rockwood, a Cedar Creek and a Cherokee. Anyone who quotes you a Forest River repair without asking which line it is has not looked closely enough.

Practically, this means our first step on a Forest River is identification. Sidewall lamination method, backer material, roof membrane type and slide system all vary, and each of those changes both the labor hours and the correct repair method.

Why We Identify the Line Before Quoting

Two Forest River trailers of the same length and model year can have different sidewall construction, different roof membrane and a different slide mechanism. Quoting from the badge produces a number that is wrong in one direction or the other, and the direction it is wrong in is usually low.

So we pull the build sheet where we can, check the membrane and backer directly, and identify the slide system before writing anything. It adds an hour on the front end and it removes most of the mid-job surprises.

Sidewall construction varies
Laminated with a composite backer on the better lines, luan on the value lines. That single difference can triple the cost of the same water event.
Roof membrane varies
EPDM, TPO and fiberglass all appear across the group. Each takes a different repair method and a different sealant chemistry.
Slide systems vary
Schwintek, Lippert in-wall and cable systems all appear depending on line and floorplan. Mechanism service $500 to $8,500 and up.
Toy hauler structure
Vengeance, XLR and Shockwave carry ramp door and tie-down load. We inspect anchor points and hinge structure on any of them regardless of why it came in.

Sunseeker, Forester, Georgetown and FR3

On the motorized side the cabover structure on the Class C products is the area that takes damage and hides it. A front end impact loads the cab to house seam, and that seam is where water finds its way in six months later if the repair only addressed the visible panel.

Front cap work on these runs $750 to $12,000 and up for fiberglass repair, more for replacement. On any Class C we tear the cabover down far enough to see the seam before finalizing scope.

What Changes From One Division to the Next

Riverstone and Cedar Creek come out of the plants that use vacuum bonded laminate with a composite backer, six sided aluminum framing and a painted front cap. Cherokee, Grey Wolf and the Wolf family sit a tier down, some with laminated fiberglass walls and some with corrugated aluminum siding over a wood frame. R-Pod and Geo Pro are small, light and molded, so a strike that would dent a larger trailer often cracks a panel here instead. No Boundaries uses a different roof detail again. Treating all of that as one brand is how estimates come out wrong.

The motorized side splits by cab. Sunseeker and Forester are cutaway Class C builds on Ford E-450 or Chevrolet 4500, with the Forester MBS variant on the Mercedes 3500. Georgetown and FR3 ride the Ford F53 rail. Berkshire is a Freightliner raised rail diesel pusher with hydraulic rooms. Each one puts the cab to house seam in a different place relative to the impact zone, which is why we tear the cabover down rather than reading it from photographs.

Parts routing
Forest River divisions run their own parts desks rather than one central catalog, so lead times swing widely. We get written quotes with dates before authorization rather than promising a calendar we cannot control.
Wall backer matters
A composite backed wall dries and gets rebonded. A luan backed wall that has wicked water is pulp, and the section has to be cut out and rebuilt. Same leak, very different invoice.
Frame components
Lippert frames and Dexter axles across almost the whole group, which keeps suspension, jack and axle repairs quick and cheap relative to bodywork.
Toy hauler load paths
Vengeance, XLR and Shockwave pass tie-down load into the garage floor structure and carry a large unsupported ramp opening at the rear wall. Both get inspected on any of them, whatever brought it in.

Forest River Questions We Get Asked

How do I find out which Forest River division built my trailer?

The federal certification label inside a cabinet door or on the forward sidewall carries the manufacturing plant and the build date, and the VIN identifies the division. Bring the unit in and we read the label, check the membrane and the wall backer directly through an existing penetration, and identify the slide system. That takes about an hour and it removes most of the mid job surprises that make Forest River estimates move.

Does Forest River certify or sponsor OCRV Center?

No division of Forest River certifies, sponsors or endorses this shop, and we make no claim of any relationship with them. We are an independent facility licensed by the California Bureau of Automotive Repair under ARD00288521, working out of 35,000 square feet in Yorba Linda. What we bring is tooling and pattern knowledge across the group rather than a badge on the door.

Why did two shops quote my Cherokee wall repair so differently?

Almost always because one of them assumed a laminated wall and the other looked. A laminated section gets cut, rebonded and refinished. A stick and tin wall gets the siding pulled, the framing replaced and the insulation renewed. The hours, the materials and the parts are not comparable. Ask either shop which wall construction they wrote the estimate against, and whether they confirmed it or guessed from the model name.

Can you repair a Sunseeker or Forester cabover after a front end hit?

Yes, and the cabover is the part that matters most. The bunk structure over the cab carries load and hides displacement, and the seam between the factory cab and the house takes the impact energy in nearly every frontal collision on a Class C. We tear it down far enough to see and measure that seam, then reseal the full seam rather than the damaged portion so the repair does not leak next winter.

Do you work on Forest River toy haulers with ramp door damage?

Regularly. A ramp door that has begun to sag is a structural finding, not a latch adjustment, because the hinge line is a stress concentration across a large unsupported opening. We inspect the hinge structure, the rear wall reinforcement and the floor anchoring, then repair with certified welding. Structural work runs $750 to $20,000 and up, mostly determined by how much interior has to be removed for access.
