That approach is not wrong in every case. When a front wall is separated across its full width and the frame is bent behind the axles as well, wholesale replacement is the honest answer. Here it was not, because the damage was concentrated in a 30 inch wide vertical band and two identifiable frame welds. Sectioning a member and rebuilding a wall in place takes more skill and more documentation than swapping an assembly, and it takes far fewer dollars.
